19 Apr ‘Delivering for America’ – Reviewing the USPS 10-year Plan
You may have heard that recently the USPS announced a 10-year plan called ‘Delivering for America’. It not only addresses the many challenges the USPS is currently facing , but more importantly how the USPS plans to return the organization to financial stability and achieve service excellence.
‘Delivering for America’ calls for growth, investment in technology and infrastructure, targeted cost reductions and efficient strategies to meet future challenges. These initiatives are meant to increase cash flow, improve speed, adjust standards, and prioritize the need for a better understanding of the customer experience.
The USPS plans on generating $24 billion dollars in net revenue in part from enhanced package delivery services for business customers including same day, one-day and two day delivery offerings. They also plan to adjust delivery standards to improve efficiency and reliability. Another exciting feature in the 10-year plan was enhancing the customer experience by offering a suite of consumer and small business tools. Our CEO Harry Stephens has shared many ideas in the past several years that tackle the challenges experienced by the USPS, especially when it comes to reducing its financial burden. We are excited to see some of these ideas he has proposed come to life, and ultimately make the USPS more successful than ever before.
In this new era at USPS, we look forward to seeing increased quality of services, investment in technology and infrastructure, and a continued relationship with congress to maximize the benefits for USPS employees.
Our customers can expect Harry and our President, Scott Stephens, to continue to work closely with the USPS through organizations like the Major Mailers Association and the National Postal Policy Council (NPPC), but always will be advocating for the best postal rates and services for our customers. When you choose DATAMATX as your third-party service partner, you choose a partner that not only wants what is best for you, but for the industry at large. It will be interesting to see the positive changes in the USPS as they roll this plan out. We will continue to track the developments of the 10-year plan, and keep our customers informed of the increased benefits.
