DATAMATX Opens Atlanta Facility to New Orleans-Based Pel Hughes in Aftermath of Katrina
Disaster Recovery Assistance Helps Industry Colleague Remain in Business

______________________________

Atlanta, Georgia, - Ocotber 3, 2005 - By making part of its Atlanta facility available to reestablish critical business operations, DATAMATX, one of the nation’s largest privately held full-service providers of printed and electronic billing solutions, is helping industry colleague Pel Hughes Printing remain in business during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Pel Hughes, a New Orleans-based printing and direct mail provider, was located on Tolouse Street in the heart of the city.  After Katrina hit, its facility was flooded with several feet of water, making it inoperable.

Both members of the Imaging Network Group, Inc. (INg), DATAMATX and Pel Hughes provide many overlapping services.  The INg is an international non-profit association for the electronic imaging service bureau industry that includes prestigious vendor members IBM, BÖWE Bell & Howell, Exstream Software, Solimar, Pitney Bowes and Xerox.

“Our goal is to see Pel Hughes survive this terrible event; retain its clients and workforce of more than 100 employees; and ultimately remain in business,” said president and CEO of DATAMATX Harry Stephens.  “Pel Hughes was able to begin processing their files within 72 hours of their arrival at our Atlanta facility, where we are housing its technology team and providing output services.  We are pleased we were able to open our doors to Pel Hughes so it could quickly reestablish operations and customer service.”

DATAMATX has made a portion of its Atlanta facility available to Pel Hughes and is helping the company establish the following business operations:

  • Central communication center from which to operate
  • Telecommunication capabilities, central phone number, Web site presence and email capabilities for communicating with employees, family members and customers
  • Data communications capabilities for receiving data transmissions from customers
  • Private network for rebuilding automation and processing infrastructure

Additionally, DATAMATX has assisted Pel Hughes in the acquisition of mission-critical equipment and software, including a new, fully configured dedicated Solimar System for document delivery; two new Dell servers to provide processing capabilities for data; A Xerox DocuPrint 4635 Laser Print System for centralized print production; and a Pitney Bowes Series 8 system for mail inserting.
