Harry Stephens, President and CEO of DATAMATX, Speaks to USPS Board of Governors About Postal Reform and Other Major Issues Facing Business Mailers

______________________________

Atlanta, Georgia, - July 5, 2005 - Continually advocating for a postal system that is healthy and robust for business mailers, Harry Stephens, president and CEO of DATMATX, one of the nation's largest privately held full-service providers of first-class print, mail and document distribution, recently addressed the United States Postal Service (USPS) Board of Governors about postal reform and the current state of the postal system. The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service includes nine governors who are appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the Senate to set policies on all postal matters.

Stephens joined other executives from prestigious organizations, including Capital One Financial Corporation, Hearst Magazine, Eddie Bauer, Advo, Inc., Easter Seals, Magazine Publishers of America and the Direct Marketing Association, to discuss with the USPS Board of Governors the most pressing issues facing business mailers today. Represented were various postal groups, including the National Postal Policy Councilon whose behalf Stephens was speaking Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers, Association for Postal Commerce and Parcel Shippers Association.

"It was an honor to join my distinguished peers, veterans of postal affairs each with ten to 30 plus years of experience, to offer our perspective on how crucial it is to bring about postal reform," said Stephens. "A postal system that is strong and thriving is essential to the financial well-being of the business world and our economy as a whole. Consumers are already turning to alternatives to first-class mail, including electronic mail, broadcast promotions and other solutions; a rate increase is likely to decelerate the use of first-class mail even further. We advocate for postal reform that would empower the postal system to run itself more like a business with a more efficient management structure helping it control labor and benefit costs, while giving it the freedom to make improvements in products and services."

Stephens is a member of several major postal trade associations, including the National Postal Customer Council, Major Mailers Association and the Greater Atlanta Postal Customer Council, ensuring his voice is heard when postal decisions are made. "The postal system is the largest distributor of billing statements and other business documents and I am committed to making sure it is as efficient as possible for my clients," he said.
