Keynote Speaker,
Leading Expert on Megatrends and New Technology
Peter Leyden
Leyden deeply understands the
technology and new media, having served as managing editor
of the original Wired magazine that introduced the digital
revolution to the world and that pioneered the early online
world of the web. Out of that experience, he co-authored the
book The Long Boom, a History of the Future, 1980-2020,
which was translated into half a dozen languages.
Leyden gets the economics and business, having worked for
years at Global Business Network, a pioneering think tank on
future trends and a high level strategy consulting firm that
advises many top global corporations. While there, he
co-authored the book What’s Next, Exploring the New Terrain
for Business, on what to expect in the 10 years after the
September 11th attack.
Leyden understands the globalized world, particularly Asia,

magazine in Asia, including doing stories in China just
after the Tiananmen Square massacre. He also has traveled to
more than 50 countries in all major regions of the world,

Leyden recently has focused much of his energy on politics,
having just finished several years as director of the New
Politics Institute, a think tank that helps people in
politics understand the emerging new technologies, new
media, and the new demographic reality of America. He is
based in San Francisco, where he lives with his wife and
15-year-old daughter, but he spends much time in Washington,
DC, where, among other things, he has twice addressed the
Democratic Caucus of the US House of Representatives, as
well as the Democratic Caucus of the US Senate.
Leyden has a master’s degree in comparative politics as well
as a masters in journalism from Columbia University, and did
his undergraduate work at Georgetown University, where he
graduated summa cum laude. |

Opportunities for Color Digital Printing in the
Production Digital Printing market.
Dave Erlandson is General Manager of Caslon & Co. a firm
that specializes in helping companies take advantage of the new business
opportunities enabled by digital printing. One of Caslon’s primary
activities is to serve as the North American Affiliate for PODi, the
Digital Print Initiative. PODi is a leading industry initiative focused on
developing the market for digital printing through market education and
standards activities.
For PODi, Dave’s key responsibilities are managing membership and content
for Print Service Providers. This includes the annual collection and
publication of best practices in digital printing, creating strategic
solution selling tools, producing webinars and reports, and producing
PODi’s annual Application Forum.
Dave’s responsibilities include leading Caslon’s Production Digital
Printing (PDP) Research and Advisory service, which serves the vendor
community through its application-based market research and analysis.
This talk will take a look at the market opportunities in the production
printing market that are enabled by digital printing. Dave will provide
summary results from extensive research and provide insight into the
leading applications and opportunities.
Growth of digital color printing is tied to simple economics; color
digital printing has to create new value (and justify a higher print cost)
or decrease costs of existing applications.
So how does digital color printing create new value? Dave will provide
case studies and analysis of the following ways digital printing is used
to create value. |
